Hello Sunrise Toastmasters and Guests!
Rewind from July 24
The meeting was held from 7:00AM – 8:00 AM at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in meeting room NT102A with 10 members and one guest present.
President Summer Murphy opened the meeting with a few words of thanks to the club officers and quickly transitioning the meeting to Toastmaster Angela Ligon. Angela welcomed us to invite spontaneity in our lives. As one might expect, the word for the day was “spontaneous”. The first speaker, Jenna Willingham, delivered her fourth speech titled ‘The Orlando Ordeal’ from Project #4 in the Competent Communicator manual. She invited the audience to relive with her a vivid and meaningful moment of her life. Her speech gripped the audience with excitement! An opening in the schedule allowed for Lolita Henley to step forward and deliver a pocket speech, titled ‘Where Do Babies Come From?’. Her outrageously funny and colorful explanation of the birds and the bees left the audience reeling in laughter!
Dramaine Freeman led the club in an engaging round of table topics and asked participants to comment on popular TED talks. The members had fun with six rounds of table topics before moving into evaluations.
Thanks to Lolita Henley and Esther Khoury for evaluating the speeches, to Summer Murphy for evaluating the meeting in general, and to Dave Burr for serving as Timer/Grammarian.
