Hello Sunrise Toastmasters Members and guests!
Rewind from October 2
This meeting was held at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in the North Tower (Room NT102A) and started at 7:00 AM. We had a total of 8 members and 2 guests present at our meeting.
Vice President of Education Esther Khoury opened our meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and turned it over to Steve Stephens as Toastmaster for the morning. His word of the day was ‘gregarious.’ As he opened the meeting, he told us “when it rains, is pours” – and that’s not always a bad thing. For example, as a young couple, he and his wife had three children back-to-back and they wouldn’t trade it for the world.
The only speaker for today, Walt Abele , completed project #4 in the Competent Communicator manual, titled ‘A Failed Summer Campaign: A Garden Overrun.’ He spoke about the ups and downs that his poor garden experienced this summer. Fate has a cruel way of giving us experiences we didn’t want or expect… and Toastmasters has a way of turning them into speech topics! Thank you, Walt!
Mike Stipanov led the club in Table Topics in which respondents commented on the influence of technology in one’s daily life. Given the single speaker agenda, we enjoyed more table topics rounds than usual and, shortly following, moved into evaluations. Thanks to Dave Burr for serving as evaluator, to Joe Stack for evaluating the meeting in general, and to Esther Khoury for serving as Timer/Grammarian. An additional ‘thank you’ to Joe Stack for handling this rewind/fast-forward.
