The Sunrise Toastmaster meeting on April 30,2021 was led by Toastmaster Karen Rhodes. Karen selected the word of the day, value, and addressed its various meanings throughout the morning. First up for the speakers portion of the toastmaster meeting was Dustin Johnson. Dustin’s speech, Dynamic Leadership: The Buffet Way, offered the audience glimpses into Dustin’s personal life and how he related that to Warren Buffets life. He described various values the two shared and how that shone through in life, work, and personal characteristics. The second speaker, Kelsey Long, presented a speech titled, The End of a New Beginning in which she shared the lessons learned while obtaining her MBA. Kelsey noted the experience was a humbling journey where she discovered how to how to advocate for herself. Savannah Murphy hosted the Table Topics section working off the theme of the morning with a chosen values as talking points. Advocacy, recognition, flexibility, humor, and abundance were all values touched on by the participants. Marlit Hayslett presented a good evaluation of the meeting as the General Evaluator and joining Marlit were speaker evaluators, Amelya Black and Anu Parvathaneni, Timer/Grammarian Angela Marsh.
