Our esteemed President, Amelya Black, opened the meeting sharing feelings of pride for our Sunrise Toastmaster’s club, and led us into our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. After welcoming our guests and sharing an overview of the meeting Amelya transitioned to the day’s Toastmaster Greg Sutton. Greg chose perfunctory as the word of the day, associating it to minority (BIPOC) mental health awareness month, and reminding us to consider when it is important to be intentional and aware. A quick round of introductions welcomed our guests Toastmaster Melanie and returning guests Abdul and Hrithik to our well attended meeting of 15.
Tim Murphy introduced Tanuja Reddy, our first speaker. Tanuja’s speech titled “ABCD, am I considered one?” was insightful and conversational. Rich with culture and family, the speech shared the acronym ABCD and challenged us all to proceed with confidence! The speech was well written and presented exceptionally, the personal stories took the speech to the next level, was feedback shared by evaluator Tim Murphy.
Dave Burr introduced Savannah Murphy, our second speaker. Savannah’s speech titled “Tom Cruise and the Futon Burrito” led us on a humorous journey of action and suspense, sharing different approaches for solving problems. This speech was exemplary, and fantastically executed with enthusiasm, was the high praise shared by evaluator Dave Burr.
John Doggett hosted Table Topics, the award ceremony for useless awards allowed both Toastmasters and guests an opportunity to role play as presenter or recipient and have some fun along the way!
Karen Rhodes served as General Evaluator sharing insightful feedback, Maria Leon provided the Timer report, and Kerstin Haase shared the Grammarian report – well done everyone!
Toastmaster Greg Sutton thanked everyone for a great meeting and transitioned the meeting back to Amelya Black. Amelya closed the meeting in kind, thanked our guest for joining us, and shared the roles for the meeting next week.
The next Sunrise Toastmasters meeting will be at 7 am, July 22 EST on Zoom.
