Our Sergeant at Arms, Toastmaster Tim Murphy, opened the meeting leading us intentionally into our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Tim reminded us how we can use our bias flag and transitioned the meeting to the day’s Toastmaster Abdulrahman Albazie. With thoughtfulness, Abdulrahman chose candor as the word of the day, and encouraged us to use this word with Honesty, during the meeting. We reviewed roles, and with volunteers rising, another Sunrise Toastmaster’s meeting began.
Toastmaster Stiles Burr introduced our first speaker, Toastmaster Summer Murphy. Summer shared a humorous speech from the Engaging Humor Pathway on Research and Presenting. Summer’s speech resonated with everyone; you could see it in the understanding smiles shared at the mention of strategy planned should Publisher’s Clearinghouse show up. “Just wear the mask”, was sound advice from the speaker. This speech was good, loved the introduction. This speech was something we could relate to, you did a nice job incorporating gestures, overall a great speech was feedback shared by Stiles.
Toastmaster Tim Murphy introduced our final speaker, Toastmaster Renuka Korlipara. Renuka shared a speech titled “It’s the Holiday Season”. This topic was well researched and explored celebrating holidays among many cultures. Great opening, we learned a lot during this speech. You overcame technology challenges, recovering is not easy, you showed us you have the ability to get over it and get through it, great job was feedback shared by Tim.
Toastmaster Maria Leon hosted a well-researched Table Topics, engaging the Toastmasters and guest to share their story, strengthening our ability to compose thoughts and speak conversationally.
Toastmaster Anu Parvathaneni served as General Evaluator, summarizing the meeting with thoughtful feedback that helped everyone continue to improve, and led the team sharing feedback and reports. Toastmaster Tanuja Reddy provided the Timer report and Toastmaster Kerstin Haase shared the Grammarian report – well done everyone!
Toastmaster Abdulrahman reviewed roles for next week, and transitioned the meeting back to Toastmaster Tim, who thanked everyone for their participation in another amazing Toastmasters meeting before closing the meeting.
