Our President elect, Toastmaster Amelya Black, opened the meeting leading us deliberately to our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Amelya cleared any doubt on flagging bias, reminding us that we can use our bias flag to support our journey to become better speakers, and transitioned the meeting to the day’s Toastmaster Tim Murphy. Tim chose persnickety as the word of the day, encouraging use of this word during the meeting. Invited guests were welcomed, and another memorable Sunrise Toastmasters meeting began.
Toastmaster Stiles Burr introduced the day’s speaker, Toastmaster Karen Rhodes. Karen shared a level 5 elective on the Visionary Communication Pathway, moderating a panel discussion. The topic Karen selected to engage with the panel was volunteer opportunities in Greensboro. This extended timed project execution was exemplary, we learned directly from each speaker the impact and reach of each organization and how to get involved. This was truly a memorable engagement, highlighting Karen’s organizational and leadership skills, well done Toastmaster!
Toastmaster Savannah Murphy hosted Table Topics, engaging the Toastmasters in conversation to strengthen our ability to compose thoughts and speak intentionally.
Toastmaster Maria Leon served as General Evaluator, summarizing the meeting with the thoughtful feedback that helps everyone continue to improve, and led the team sharing feedback and reports. Stiles did a phenomenal job providing evaluation feedback to the day’s speaker, very insightufl. Toastmaster Kerstin Haase provided the Timer report and Toastmaster Dave Burr shared the Grammarian report – well done, team!
Tim reviewed roles for next week and thanked everyone for their participation in another amazing Toastmasters meeting before transitioning to Amelya to close the meeting.
