Fast Forward/Rewind – October 27, 2023

Our President Summer Murphy opened the meeting with insights about hospital emergency facilities being established in more affluent communities, despite the greater need for them in economically disadvantaged areas, leading us deliberately to our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Life Matter movement. Summer dispelled any doubts about the bias, encouraged us to use it to support our journey of becoming better speakers, and transitioned the meeting over to Toastmaster Kerstin Haase. Kerstin chose upshot as the word of the day.

Toastmaster Norris Bass introduced our first speaker, Toastmaster John Doggett, who delivered a captivating speech titled ‘Bees.’ John engaged the audience with humorous stories of his fear of bees, drawing from personal experiences of unfortunate encounters. Norris then provided feedback, highlighting areas of excellence and offering suggestions for improvement. Commendable effort!

Toastmaster Stiles Burr introduced our second speaker, Toastmaster Renuka Korlipara, who delivered a speech titled “Fall 7 Times and Stand-Up 8” during which she shared her experiences with gardening. She eloquently described how her passion for gardening motivated her to persist despite initial setbacks. Stiles shared feedback, offering constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement. Extraordinary talents!

Table Topic Master Toastmaster Dave Burr led an engaging question-and-answer session, igniting creativity and spontaneity, and setting the stage for unpredictable and exciting questions. Well done!

Toastmaster Greg Sutton served as the General Evaluator, ensuring the overall effectiveness and quality of our meeting, providing valuable feedback, contributing to the ongoing success of our Toastmasters club, and leading the team in sharing feedback and reports. Toastmaster Savannah Murphy delivered the Timer report. Toastmaster Tina Joe shared the Grammarian report. Remarkable talents!

Kerstin reviewed roles for next week and transitioned the meeting to Summer to close the meeting.
