Our President Summer Murphy began the meeting by sharing meaningful insights on the unjust or prejudicial treatment of individuals or groups based on certain characteristics, such as race, gender, religion, or ethnicity, and leading us to the moment of silence in support and acknowledgement of the Black Lives Matter movement. Summer also introduced the bias flag and encouraged us to use it to support our journey of becoming better speakers, then turned the meeting over to our Toastmaster, Norris Bass. Norris introduced the word of the day, “boundaries,” and started maneuvering through the meeting!
Toastmaster Summer Murphy introduced our first speaker, Toastmaster Tim Murphy, who captivated the audience with his insightful speech on navigating the Pathways. Tim highlighted the vital role of constructive feedback and shared some of the hurdles he encountered along the way. Summer provided valuable feedback, delivering insightful observations that recognized Tim’s strengths and underscored areas for improvement. Congratulations, Tim, for successfully completing Level 5: Strategic Relationships!
Toastmaster Anu Parvathaneni introduced our second speaker, Toastmaster Dave Burr. Dave’s informative speech titled “Something About the 13th” captivated the audience as he delved into historical facts, shedding light on an overlooked clause in the Amendment and correlating it to the food manufacturing industry. Anu provided feedback, acknowledging strengths and highlighting areas for improvement. Well done, Dave!
Toastmaster Greg Sutton led an engaging table-topic session, presenting questions to elicit spontaneous responses from participants. The primary objective of this interactive segment was to cultivate our aptitude for thinking on our feet, constructing articulate thoughts, and delivering impactful impromptu responses. Excellent job, Greg!
Toastmaster Savannah Murphy served as General Evaluator, providing an overview and assessment of the meeting, and acknowledging outstanding performances and commending notable contributions. Toastmaster Hema N Kellett delivered the Timer report, ensuring that each segment adhered to the allocated time. Toastmaster Tina Joe presented the Grammarian report, monitoring and providing feedback on the effective use of language, and offering recommendations for improvement. Well done, Team!
Norris passed the reins of the meeting to Summer, who adeptly concluded and adjourned the meeting!
