Below is a quick rewind of our meeting held on Friday Oct, 3, 2014. The meeting was held at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in meeting room
NT102A and then we were asked to move across the hall half way through our meeting. We started at 7:00 a.m.
We had a total of 9 members present at our meeting.
President Angela Ligon opened the meeting and then turned over the meeting to Toastmaster for the day Steve Stephens. His word of
the day was “Imagery”. His theme for the meeting was October and asked a few members what comes to mind when we think of October.
Our first speaker was Esther Khoury titled “Organizing Your Speech” from the Better Speaker Series (time 10-15 minutes). Esther spoke about why a speech should be organized, what a well organized speech looks like and how to organize a speech.
Our second speaker was Summer Murphy, her speech was titled “Try it, You’ll like it…Eventually” from the Competent Communicator manual (project #5). She talked about the ups and downs of a beginner skier and eventually loving to ski after the learning period.
Phil Stringer led us in table topics and set up questions similar to NPR show “wait wait don’t tell me”. The questions were about spider webs, box turtles and angles.
Thanks to Tim Murphy and Dramaine Freeman for serving as evaluator and to Angela Ligon for being general evaluator. Thanks to Brett Williams for serving as Timer/Grammarian.
