Our President, Toastmaster Amelya Black, opened the meeting encouraging reflection, honor and respect supporting justice fairness and equality for populations that are not seen, leading us into our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. After welcoming everyone Amelya transitioned the meeting to the day’s Toastmaster Tanjua Reddy. Tanuja chose Anticipation as the word of the day, providing a definition (noun) a feeling of excitement about something that is going to happen soon. A quick round of introductions, sharing anticipations, allowed a glimpse of each other’s lives and the meeting began.
Toastmaster Kerstin Haase introduced Toastmaster Summer Murphy, who was our only speaker due to an extended pathway elective. Summer’s speech titled “The Impact of Gender Identities”, was a 12-minute moderated a (4) member panel discussion and concluded with an additional 8 minutes of questions from the audience. Summers was knowledgeable of the topic and a tenured speaker, guiding the panel with gratitude. The session was flawless! When your panel is interacting and engaging in conversation you know you’ve had a highly successful speech, was feedback shared by evaluator Kerstin.
Toastmaster Savannah Murphy hosted Table Topics with wedding top of mind, asking questions to the Toastmasters that focused broadly on relationships focusing on love, strengthening our ability to speak conversationally.
Toastmaster John Doggett served as General Evaluator, summarizing the meeting and leading the team’s sharing of feedback and reports. Toastmaster Angela Marsh provided the Timer report and Toastmaster Karen Rhodes shared the Grammarian report – well done everyone!
Toastmaster Tanjua thanked everyone for a great meeting, reviewed roles for next week, and transitioned the meeting back to Toastmaster Amelya, who in kind thanked everyone for their participation in another amazing meeting.
The next Sunrise Toastmasters meeting will be at 7 am, September, 2 EST on Zoom.
