Our esteemed President, Toastmaster Amelya Black, opened the meeting leading us intentionally into our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Amelya shared how we can use our bias flag to support our journey to become better speakers, transiting the meeting to the day’s Toastmaster John Doggett. John introduced chose self-righteous as the word of the day, encouraging us to use this word during the meeting. Introductions were made welcoming Kelly to the meeting, roles for the agenda reviewed, and another memorable Sunrise Toastmaster’s meeting began.
Toastmaster Kerstin Haase introduced our first speaker, Toastmaster Davids Burr. David’s speech examined parallels of the immigration policy in the United States over a span of forty years in a straightforward, honest and thought provoking manner. Dave’s rich speech reminded us that word choice matters, and history repeats itself.
Toastmaster Maria Leon introduced our final speaker, Toastmaster Greg Sutton. Greg shared three creative ways to speak self goals into existence using visualization, tracking moods and speaking daily affirmations – sharing in this excellent speech, visualization and results takes work!
Kerstin and Maria did a phenomenal job providing their evaluation feedback, sharing strengths of each speaker, and ways to improve their public speaking in the future. Thank you both!
Toastmaster Tanuja Reddy hosted Table Topics, engaging the Toastmasters to share their story exceptionally, strengthening our ability to compose thoughts and speak conversationally. Great job!
Toastmaster Abdulrahman Albazie served as General Evaluator, summarizing the meeting with thoughtful feedback that helped everyone continue to improve, and led the team sharing feedback and reports. Toastmaster Amelya Black provided the Timer report and Toastmaster Norris Bass shared the Grammarian report – well done everyone!
Toastmaster John reviewed roles and thanked everyone for their participation in another amazing Toastmasters meeting before transitioning to Amelya to close the meeting.
The next Sunrise Toastmasters meeting will be at 7 am, February 10th EST on Zoom.
