The new president of Sunrise Toastmasters Club, Toastmaster Summer Murphy, opened the meeting and welcomed members and guests, leading us to our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Summer shared how we can use the bias flag, cleared any doubt on flagging bias, and transitioned the meeting to Toastmasters John Doggett. John asked participants to introduce themselves briefly to our amazing guests, Tina Joe and Reggie Goodwin. Toastmaster of the day chose love as the word of the day, encouraging the use of this word during the meeting, and posted the meeting agenda in advance. John set the tone for the meeting by sharing thoughts, e.g., “Everybody can look put-together, but you just do not know what is going underneath,” John said. Excellent!
Toastmaster Savannah Murphy introduced our first and only speaker, Toastmaster Norris Bass. Norris led a panel discussion titled “Life Coaching and Counselling” with experts, Toastmaster Angela Marsh and Anu Parvathaneni, sharing their experience and perspective, engaging us in a lively discourse, and helping people to see where they are and find ways to move forward by creating a safe and supportive environment for clients/people to grow and flourish. Savannah, speaker’s evaluator, commended Norris for being ready ahead of time and shared feedback providing guidance on areas of excellence and improvement. Well DONE, Toastmasters!
Toastmaster Karen Rhodes led an engaging table topic question session by asking questions that would spark spontaneous responses to strengthen our ability to compose thoughts and respond to impromptu questions. Great job, Karen!
Toastmaster Kelly Gentry served as general evaluator, acknowledged everyone’s contribution, summarized the breakfast of champions portion of the meeting with thoughtful insights, and led the team in sharing feedback and reports. Toastmaster Kerstin Haase provided the Timer report, and Toastmaster Tim Murphy shared the Grammarian report, pointing out the use of filler words and the word of the day. Fabulous team!
John turned the meeting over to Summer to close another LOVELY Sunrise Toastmasters meeting.
