Secretary elect, Toastmaster Kerstin Haase, opened the meeting welcoming our faithful attendees leading us deliberately to our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Kerstin cleared any doubt on flagging bias, reminding us how to use our bias flag to support our journey to become better speakers, and transitioned the meeting to the day’s Toastmaster Angela Marsh. Angela chose carpe diem as the word of the day, defining and encouraging use of this word during the meeting. Angela shared the meeting agenda, reconciled open roles and another memorable Sunrise Toastmasters meeting began.
Toastmaster Greg Sutton introduced our first speaker, Toastmaster Maria Leon. Maria chose to share a written blog for her speech. Time well spent as we learned about holistic alternative approaches to avert unwanted travelers from latching on to four-legged fur babies. This speech was very informative, and presentation well executed. Learning is power, great job, Toastmaster!
Toastmaster Savannah Murphy introduced our second speaker, Luz Bigelow. Luz shared the Icebreaker speech: “Be Calm, be patient, be positive, and chose to Adapt” that carried us through the early years of learning how to adapt to life’s twists and turns. The resulting round of applause from club members for an excellent introduction was heartwarming and beautiful, leaving us looking forward to many more speeches in the future! Loved this Toastmaster, well done!
During Table Topics, Stiles Burr led an engaging question answer session, challenging Toastmasters and guests in spontaneous conversation to strengthen our ability to compose thoughts and speak intentionally. Nicely done Stiles!
Serving as our General Evaluator we had Dave Burr, summarizing the breakfast of champions portion of our meeting with depth and knowledgeable feedback, thank you! Dave led the team’s sharing feedback and reports. Insightful and thoughtful speech evaluations were provided by Toastmaster’s Greg and Savannah, thank you! Toastmaster Norris Bass provided a stellar Timer report and jetlagged Toastmaster Summer Murphy shared the Grammarian report with detail, acknowledging use of the word of the day. As a team they collectively helped their fellow Toastmaster’s continued learning and growth – well done everyone!
Angela reviewed roles for next week and the meeting was transitioned to our Secretary to close another wonderful Sunrise Toastmasters meeting. Kerstin thanked everyone for their participation in another amazing Toastmasters meeting before closing the meeting.
