Our VP of Education, Toastmaster Summer Murphy, opened the meeting reporting the lack of aid available for underserved marginalized communities left behind after natural disasters. Mindfully leading us into our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Lives Matter movement, Summer transitioned the meeting to the day’s Toastmaster Renuka Korlipara. Renuka chose Kindness as the word of the day and encouraged us to use the WOD during the meeting. Hurricane Ian was devastating, the number of people helping provide food and shelter to those in need was an incredible act of kindness, making this Floridian Toastmaster proud to be part of the human race. Introductions were joyful, sharing the kindness we’d like to see and pass along in daily life, and the meeting began.
Toastmaster Savannah Murphy introduced our first speaker, Toastmaster Dave Burr. Dave shared a speech on motivation that was well done, reflective, personal and insightful. The speech incorporated stories we could all relate to and ended with a strong conclusion that brought into focus the title. Dave also finished a Pathway, which is incredibly motivating! was feedback shared by Savannah.
Toastmaster Stiles Burr introduced our second speaker, Toastmaster John Doggett. John’s speech was an exploration of communication styles and sharing how Initiator relates to skills and strengths at home and on the job, when interacting with others. The speech took us on a journey, it was clear and well executed, and left us with the desire to hear the story about John’s brother and the truck dashboard! Excellent work, defining this takes thoughtful consideration, and well done was feedback shared by evaluator Stiles.
Toastmaster Tanuja Reddy hosted Table Topics, engaging the Toastmasters to share their experience based on random questions on the topic of kindness while strengthening our ability to compose thoughts and speak conversationally.
Toastmaster Norris Bass served as General Evaluator, summarizing the meeting with thoughtful feedback and led the team’s sharing of feedback and reports. Toastmaster Angela Marsh provided the Timer report and Toastmaster Abdulrahman Albazie shared the Grammarian report – well done everyone!
Toastmaster Renuka thanked everyone for a great meeting, reviewed roles for next week, and transitioned the meeting back to Toastmaster Summer, who thanked everyone for their participation in another amazing meeting before closing the meeting.
