Hello Sunrise Toastmasters Members and guests!
Rewind from August 14
The meeting was held at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in meeting room NT102A and started at 7:00 AM. We had a total of 9 members and two guests present at our meeting.
President Summer Murphy opened our meeting and turned it over to Cinthia Torres, Toastmaster for the morning. Her word of the day was “Procrastination”. She talked about how procrastination can be done in a good way.
Our first speaker was Angela Ligon. She spoke from the specialty speeches advanced manual #3. The title of her speech was “Pocket speech of sorts”. Angela talked about the art of communication and how it is the basis for every relationship. In her speech she listed barriers and filters to communication and strategies to overcome them.
Our second speaker was Dramaine Freeman. The title of his speech was “Become the best speaker you can be”. He spoke about his experiences at Sunrise Toastmasters and how he stepped outside of his comfort zone with different speeches. He asked for tough feedback in order to become a better speaker and challenged us all to do the same.
Tim Murphy led us in table topics. He used the theme for the day of procrastination. He asked us about things or activities that we would rather be doing than what we need to be doing.
Thanks to Dave Burr and Summer Murphy for serving as evaluators and to Esther Khoury for being general evaluator. Thanks to Dustin Johnson for serving as Timer/Grammarian. In closing, one final thank-you goes to Joe Stack for documenting this meeting’s highlight reel.
