Sunrise Toastmasters Rewind for 06/19/15 Fast Forward for 6/26/15

Hello Sunrise Toastmasters Members,

I encourage all of you to be in attendance this coming Friday. The current area Governor will induct the new officers for Sunrise Toastmasters for the upcoming year.

Below is a quick rewind of our meeting held on Friday June 12 2015. The meeting was held at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in meeting room NT102A and started at 7:00 a.m

We had a total of 13 members and one guest present at our meeting.

Vice President Summer Murphy opened our meeting and turned it over to Phil Stringer Toastmaster for the morning. His word of the day was “Eloquent”. Eloquent means “Fluent or persuasive in speaking or writing”

Our first speaker was Dave Burr. He spoke from the competent communication manual, project # 8. The title was ‘A young boy’s search’. Dave had some fun with play on the word ‘booby’. He was actually referring to the blue footed booby bird that his mother introduced to him as a kid. He talked about what he discovered about this bird species and ended with expressing the desire to one day see these birds in person.
Our second speaker was Dramaine Freeman . He gave a pocket speech the title was “The walk of a father”. He spoke about how by teaching his son to ride a bike, he taught his son two life lessons. The the first one was when you fall down you get back up again and the second one was to not let fear make you lose focus

Summer Murphy led of in table topics. She gave out cards with five words on them, the first word had to be described by the speaker without using that word or the other four words.
Thanks to Esther Khoury and Jenna Willingham  for serving as evaluators and to Steve Stephens for being general evaluator. Thanks to Tim Murphy for serving as Timer/Grammarian.
