Our 08/14/20 meeting was a thought provoking meeting with diverse speeches, engaged participation with guests, and welcomed back some returning members. We invite new guests to be sure to come next Friday 08/21/20 to enjoy an initial Pathways “Ice Breaker” speech from our newest member, Josh, as well as another speech from the Pathways educational program by a former club president of Sunrise Toastmasters, Summer.
In today’s meeting, Anu gave her speech, “The Story About Nothing”, which enlightened us all to the use of sleep stories to calm your mind and enable better sleep. Anu’s good friend, Aditi, joined our meeting as a visitor. Dustin presented his speech, “Winner’s Circle Fitness Camps” which gave us an overview of his team fitness approach and strategies. Dustin’s good friend, MaRhonda, also joined our meeting as a guest. Table Topics was run by Norris, and he challenged us all to include the word of the day, as well as a book or movie title into our impromptu responses. Two additional visiting guests from the Wilmington Toastmasters Club (Michelle and Samantha) jumped in as volunteers to tackle the difficult table topics questions with other members, and the responses were fantastic. Dave ran the evaluations portion of the meeting, with excellent individual speech evaluations from Karen and Josh. Savannah was the Toastmaster, and her theme of non-traditional masculinity carried us through the meeting with her reflections of her favorite examples such as Steve Irwin, Fred Rogers, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and the characters from the Lord of the Rings. The Word-of-the-Day “incremental” was used by almost every speaker. It was also great to see returning members Alvin Powell and Dramaine Freeman.
The meeting roles for next week are:
