Our esteemed President, Toastmaster Amelya Black, opened the meeting, leading us intentionally into our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Amelya shared how we can use our bias flag to support our journey to become better speakers, transitioning the meeting to the day’s Toastmaster Angela Marsh. Angela chose reconcile as the word of the day, encouraging us to use this word during the meeting. Roles for the agenda reviewed, Introductions shared to welcome our guest, and another memorable Sunrise Toastmaster’s meeting began.
Toastmaster Norris Bass introduced our first speaker, Toastmaster Abdulrahman Albazie. Abdulrahman educated us on electricity consumption and utilization trends in his neighborhood. The speech was very good. We learned Abdulrahman studies very complicated topics in his Engineering courses. When presenting his findings he proved he was very knowledgeable and considerate of his audience, sharing in a manner that was clear and concise – well done Toastmaster!
Toastmaster Karen Rhodes graciously volunteered to take on a role, and introduced our final speaker, Toastmaster John Doggett. John shared a heartwarming speech introducing to us his mentor. John spoke lovingly about his Grandfather, who set the bar high! The importance of living life with unwavering love, teaching and seeking new ideas, and being true to yourself resonated with everyone. Apparently this Toastmaster is doing some mentoring himself, as we all learned, the tradition lives on. Exceptional speech John!
Toastmaster Kerstin Haase hosted Table Topics, highlighting Black History Month, engaging the Toastmasters in conversation to strengthen our ability to compose thoughts and speak intentionally. Great job!
Toastmaster Renuka Korlipara served as General Evaluator, summarizing the meeting with thoughtful feedback that helped everyone continue to improve, and led the team sharing feedback and reports. Toastmaster’s Norris and Karen did a phenomenal job providing evaluation feedback. Toastmaster Summer Murphy provided the Timer report and Toastmaster Tim Murphy shared the Grammarian report – well done everyone!
Toastmaster Angela reviewed roles and thanked everyone for their participation in another amazing Toastmasters meeting before transitioning to Amelya to close the meeting.
