Sunrise Toastmasters, Greensboro, NC

VP of Public Relations Savannah Murphy opened the meeting with the acknowledgement that everyone has their own unique experiences of discrimination and oppression and we must consider everything and anything that can marginalize people, leading us deliberately to our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Savannah cleared any doubt on the bias flag, encouraging us to use it to support our journey of becoming better speakers, and transitioned the meeting to Toastmaster Summer Murphy. Summer chose cooperative as the word of the day.

Toastmaster Greg Sutton introduced the first speaker, Toastmaster Luz Bigelow. Luz shared how Toastmasters changed her and shifted the trajectory of her life. Greg commended the speaker for the positive energy and shared feedback. Awesome!

Toastmaster Maria Leon introduced our second speaker, Toastmaster Angela Marsh. Angela’s speech, titled ‘A Mosiac of Michael L. Cavin’, indulged us with her hero’s stories and the impact that he left that would never erode. Maria shared feedback on areas of excellence and improvement. Great work, Toastmasters!

Table Topic Master, Toastmaster Norris Bass, led an engaging session by giving participants random words and asking them to describe what those words prompt, which aims to develop the ability to organize thoughts quickly and spontaneously. Wonderful idea, Norris!

Toastmaster Savannah served as General Evaluator (multi-tasker!), pinpointed the smooth transition to Microsoft Teams, summarized the breakfast of champions portion of the meeting with thoughtful insights, and led the team in sharing feedback and reports. Toastmaster Renuka Korlipara provided the Timer report. Toastmaster Tim Murphy shared the Grammarian report, detecting filler words and noting outstanding quotes and thoughts. Well done!

Summer reviewed roles for next week and transitioned the meeting to the VP of Public Relations to close another COOPERATIVE meeting.
