Fast Forward/Rewind – August 31 meeting

We had a great meeting this morning. Highlights included: Dave as Toastmaster, with a Labor Day–inspired word of the day, “picket.” Brian was the first speaker, giving some examples of the joys of aging in “The Hill.” Alvin, a Distinguished Toastmaster, was our second speaker and provided a thorough review of our club’s goals, inspiring us to try to achieve President’s Distinguished status, a standard the club achieved regularly in the ’00s. One of the most important parts of achieving this status is having 20 or more members. We currently have 15 members, so please think about your personal and professional network and consider if our club is a good fit for those people in your life. (And if you’d like to read more about the Distinguished Club program, click here.) In honor of Labor Day, David led the group on an enjoyable and job-themed Table Topics discussion. Last but not least, Karen led a strong evaluation team consisting of Phil, Allison and Norris.

As a reminder, dues are due. So please connect with Dave if you have not yet paid.

Here are the roles for the next couple of weeks. We have next week covered but have an open Toastmaster role for our meeting on Sept. 14 if are any volunteers.
