Our VP of Membership, Toastmaster John Doggett, opened the meeting reminding us to be kind to others, leading us intentionally into our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. John shared how we can use our bias flag to support our journey to become better speakers, transiting the meeting to the day’s Toastmaster Maria Leon. Maria chose zombie as the word of the day, encouraging us to use this word during the meeting. Roles for the agenda reviewed, and another memorable Sunrise Toastmaster’s meeting began.
Toastmaster Dave Burr introduced our first speaker, Toastmaster Renuka Korlipara. Renuka’s speech shared the ebbs and flows of a few of life’s unexpected moments, reminding us that it’s a good thing when you can laugh at life. This humorous heartwarming speech brought everyone together, though each comical moment, the rich reminder that life is meant to be lived.
Toastmaster Maria Leon introduced our final speaker, Toastmaster Anu Parvathaneni. Anu shared her observation of a major problem despite all the best efforts, kids are falling through the cracks, and there’s no quick fix. Toastmasters collectively acknowledged this truth, and hope won as we made suggestions. A reminder there is always hope, hope for change, a new tomorrow.

Toastmaster Karen Rhodes hosted Table Topics, engaging the Toastmasters to share their story exceptionally, strengthening our ability to compose thoughts and speak conversationally. Great job!
Toastmaster Stiles Burr served as General Evaluator, summarizing the meeting with thoughtful feedback that helped everyone continue to improve, and led the team sharing feedback and reports. ToastmasterJohn provided the Timer report and Toastmaster Norris Bass shared the Grammarian report – well done everyone!
Toastmaster Maria reviewed roles and thanked everyone for their participation in another amazing Toastmasters meeting before transitioning to John to close the meeting.
