Our esteemed President, Toastmaster Amelya Black, opened the meeting leading us intentionally into our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Amelya shared how we can use our bias flag to become better speakers, transiting the meeting to the day’s Toastmaster Savannah Murphy. Savannah chose audacity as the word of the day, encouraging us to use this word during the meeting. Roles were reviewed and another memorable Sunrise Toastmaster’s meeting began.
Toastmaster Dave Burr introduced our first speaker, Toastmaster Abdulrahman Albazie. “Sustainable Life” was an interactive speech that included the audience in a friendly way, bringing to the surface the importance of sustainability and it’s impact on the world.
Toastmaster Norris Bass introduced our final speaker, Toastmaster Kerstin Haase. “My People” was a speech about dementia and how StoryWorth was helping a family document their cherished family memories, supporting each other through a challenging illness.
Dave and Norris did a phenomenal job providing their evaluation feedback, sharing strengths of each speaker, and suggesting ways to improve each speech in the future. Thank you both!
Toastmaster Renuka Korlipara hosted Table Topics, engaging the Toastmasters to share their story exceptionally, strengthening our ability to compose thoughts and speak conversationally. Great job!
Toastmaster Tim Murphy served as General Evaluator, summarizing the meeting with thoughtful feedback that helped everyone continue to improve, and led the team sharing feedback and reports. Toastmaster Tanuja Reddey provided the Timer report and Toastmaster Amelya Black shared the Grammarian report – well done everyone!
Toastmaster Summer Murphy provided an overview of the upcoming Toastmasters Speaking Competition letting everyone know they were eligible and if interested, how to signup. Savannah reviewed roles thanked everyone for their participation in another amazing Toastmasters meeting before closing the meeting.
The next Sunrise Toastmasters meeting will be at 7 am, January 27th EST on Zoom.
