VP of Education Kerstin Haase opened the meeting with insights about promoting equality and addressing systemic barriers and biases that prevent certain groups from fully participating and thriving in society, leading us deliberately to our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Life Matter movement. Kerstin explained and dispelled any doubts about the bias, encouraged us to use it to support our journey of becoming better speakers, and transitioned the meeting over to Toastmaster Abdulrahman Albazie. Abdulrahman chose alleviate as the word of the day and “Shukran” (شكراً) as an alternative.
Toastmaster Renuka Korlipara introduced our first speaker, Toastmaster Kerstin, who shared a speech, charming us with poems that encourage embracing challenges and trust that through resilience and self-discovery would uncover our true purpose and create a meaningful and fulfilling life. Renuka shared feedback, highlighting areas of excellence and improvement. Well done, Toastmasters!
Toastmaster Savannah Murphy introduced our second speaker, Toastmaster Angela Marsh. Angela gave a speech titled ‘Toastmasters: Fast Forward, Rewind, and Pause,’ about a community where people inspire and empower one another to become exceptional communicators and leaders, and took a moment to reflect on the incredible journey she has had with Toastmasters! Savannah shared feedback, providing constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement. Extraordinary talents!
Table Topic Master Toastmaster Greg Sutton led an engaging question-and-answer session, igniting creativity and spontaneity, and setting the stage for unpredictable and exciting questions. Awesome work!
Toastmaster Dave Burr served as the General Evaluator, ensuring the overall effectiveness and quality of our meeting, providing valuable feedback, contributing to the ongoing success of our Toastmasters club, and leading the team in sharing feedback and reports. Toastmaster Norris Bass delivered the Timer report. Toastmaster Anu Parvathaneni shared the Grammarian report, promoting clarity, accuracy, and effective communication among the speakers and participants. Excellent!
Abdulrahman reviewed roles for next week and transitioned the meeting to Kerstin to close the meeting.
