President Summer Murphy opened the meeting with the beautiful insight that individuals can experience multiple forms of oppression or privilege simultaneously, and intentionally led us in our moment of silence in recognition and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Summer dispelled any doubts about the bias flag and encouraged us to use it to support our journey to becoming better speakers, handing the meeting over to Toastmaster Bettina Ross. Bettina chose Rusty as the word of the day and voluntarily took on the Toastmaster role!
Toastmaster Tim Murphy introduced the first speaker, Toastmaster Norris Bass. Norris’s speech revolved around relationships, and how to have friends and when to let people go. Tim provided feedback with insightful highlights. “If you are not healthy, you cannot help others,” Norris said. Innate talents!
Toastmaster Dave Burr introduced our second speaker, Toastmaster Abdulrahman Albazie. Abdulrahman shared a speech titled ‘Effects of Words’, diving us into a deep look at self-perception and its effect. Dave gave a thorough assessment, highlighting key points. Fabolous job!
Table Topic Master, Summer, led an exciting question-and-answer session and encouraged everyone to participate—everyone did! —challenging Toastmasters to think on their feet. Astounding, Summer!
Toastmaster Stiles Burr served as the General Evaluator, summarizing the breakfast of champions portion of the meeting with thoughtful insights, and leading the team in sharing feedback and reports. Toastmaster Savannah Murphy delivered the Timer report. Toastmaster John Doggett shared the Grammarian report. Good job, team!
Bettina reviewed roles for next week and transitioned the meeting to our president to close the meeting.
