President Summer Murphy opened the meeting with inspiring insights and quotes, intentionally leading us in our minute of silence in recognition and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Summer dispelled any doubts about the bias flag and encouraged us to use it to support our journey to becoming better speakers, handing the meeting over to Toastmaster Tim Murphy. Tim chose Exert as the word of the day and voluntarily took on the Toastmaster role!
Toastmaster Summer introduced our first speaker, Toastmaster Greg Sutton. Greg’s speech took us on a trip to South Africa, sharing the country’s diverse and remarkable wildlife. Summer shared feedback, providing suggestions and insights on our speaker’s presentation. Impressive!
Toastmaster Anu Parvathaneni introduced our second speaker, Toastmaster John Doggett. John shared a pocket speech, embracing the lighter side of life and finding opportunities to bring laughter into our lives through harmless pranks. The speech showed John’s ability to bring people together, fostering a sense of camaraderie and playfulness. Anu shared feedback, providing constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement. Well done, Toastmasters!
Table Topic Master Toastmaster Savannah Murphy led a new and exciting question-and-answer session and encouraged everyone to participate, helping members improve their ability to think on their feet, speak spontaneously, and deliver concise and coherent responses to unexpected questions. Exceptional work, Savannah!
Toastmaster Maria Leon served as the General Evaluator, reflecting on the meeting as a whole and aiming to encourage growth, enhance future meetings, and recognize the efforts of participants, leading the team in sharing feedback and reports. Toastmaster Abdulrahman Albazie delivered the Timer report. Toastmaster Norris Bass shared the Grammarian report. Outstanding team!
Tim reviewed roles for next week and transitioned the meeting to our president to close the meeting.
