Hello Sunrise Toastmasters Members and guests!
Rewind from June 3
This meeting was held at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in the AHEC Conference Room #6 (formerly known as 0064) with 7 members present. President Summer Murphy opened our meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance before quickly turning the meeting over to Dave Burr to lead as Toastmaster for the morning. Dave got us thinking about the impending heat (Word of the Day) and challenged us to work in that key word – in all its meanings – throughout the morning.
The first speaker for the day was Zach Sullivan, who completed his fourth project titled, ‘Why I Want to Become a Doctor.’ In this particular speech, Zach chose his words carefully with good reason: with medical school interviews on the horizon, he wants his answer to stand out from his competition. The second speaker, Tim Murphy, dusted off a speech from the Better Club series. In this speech, Tim explained the ebb and flow of club membership, then taught us how to attract and retain solid Toastmaster members who build the club. Thank you to both speakers!
Topicsmaster Phil Monroe led the group in themed Table Topics series that fit well with the Toastmasters’ theme of hot, summer activities. A special thanks to Summer Murphy for evaluating Zach’s speech, to Jenna Willingham for serving as Timer/Grammarian, and to for evaluating the meeting in general.
Fast-Forward to June 10
Toastmaster Phil Monroe has secured all roles for the upcoming.
We will resume our meeting in our regular space: North Tower Room 102A.
