Sunrise Toastmasters 1-23-15 Rewind & Fast-Forward 1-30-15

Hello Sunrise Toastmasters members,

Below is a quick rewind of our meeting held on Friday Jan 23, 2015. The meeting was held at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in meeting room
NT102A and started at 7:00 a.m

We had a total of 12 members and one three guest present at our meeting.

President  Angela Lingon opened our meeting and turned it over to Dramaine Freeman our Toastmaster for the morning. His word of the day was ‘Time’. He used examples of time throughout the meeting.

Our first speaker was Steve Stephens. He spoke from the competent communicator manual-speech #8. The title of his speech was ‘Migratory Fish’. Steve spoke about his love for fishing and how foreign shipping vessels and long lines were depleting the migratory fish population. Steve demonstrated how to bait a rig that is used to catch migratory fish.
Our second speaker was Summer Murphy. She spoke from the competent communicator manual-speech #7. The title of her speech was “Cup of Joe: Friend or Foe?.” She spoke about about the positive and negative effects of coffee and caffeine.  She presented extensive facts on both sides and left it up to the the audiance to decide whether a cup of Joe is a friend or foe.

Jenna Willingham led us in table topics. She did an interesting take on providing a reference. She matched up a celebrity name with a job and participants were required to serve as a reference to convince Jenna that the celebrity was the best fit for the job.
