Fast Forward/Rewind – April 10, 2026

This week’s meeting kicked off with a warm welcome from our President, Abdulrahman, followed by the One World, Many Voices segment led by Toastmaster Kehinde (Kenny). She spoke about what love is, how it speaks many languages and tells the truth everywhere. After the segment, Abdulrahman briefly introduced the bias flag and explained its purpose. The bias flag is a tool our club uses to encourage inclusive and mindful language throughout our meetings.

The meeting was then turned over to our Toastmaster of the Day, Summer, who welcomed our two guests, Cole and Danielle, and led a round of introductions. She gave a brief overview of the meeting agenda and explained the roles involved to help everyone follow along. Summer then introduced the Word of the Day options, whatchamacallit, thingamabob, or doohickey, and demonstrated their use with the sentence, “Pull that thingamabob and it will move the doohickey.” With that, she guided us through a great meeting.

We had two speakers today. Toastmaster Chang Yu delivered a speech titled “AI Made My Songs Better and Worse.” He shared how he recently began experimenting with an AI platform for his music and discovered that while his finished songs often sounded worse, the rough cuts were more polished. He explained that AI is great at polishing work but struggles with originality, often making everything sound the same and removing the human factor.

Our second speaker, Toastmaster Kerstin, presented a speech titled “My Story” which was a redo of her very first Icebreaker. She spoke about the importance of family in her life and how those relationships shaped who she is today. Her message was clear: Family is everything.

Table Topics were led by Toastmaster Tim, who asked a variety of interesting and fun questions that thoroughly engaged participants. One of our guests participated in Table Topics, which is always exciting. Some of the questions included: Who is the funniest person alive today? If you could have a second home, where would it be? And if you could be a great musician, athlete, or artist, which would you choose? Responses ranged from “That’s a doohickey of a question, I’m the funniest person,” to having a winter home in Florida, to choosing to be a great salesperson because whenever they get involved, they tend to ruin it.

Next, we moved into our Breakfast of Champions segment. General Evaluator Abdulrahman led the evaluation team and provided specific feedback, highlighting how well the Table Topics session worked due to the simple yet funny questions. Speaker evaluations were provided by Toastmasters Tina Joe and Savvy, who both emphasized strengths such as organization, flow, and excellent delivery. Areas for improvement focused on the importance of providing evaluator introductions ahead of time to allow for better preparation. Toastmasters Matthew and Adnan kept us honest today by timing our speeches and tracking our filler words.

The meeting adjourned right at 8:00 AM EST, and we are already looking forward to next week’s meeting.

The next Sunrise Toastmasters meeting will be at 7 a.m. on April 17, EST. If you would like to join our meeting as a guest, contact us for the meeting link.
