Hello Sunrise Toastmasters members,
Below is a quick rewind of our meeting held on Friday July 18, 2014. The meeting was held at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, meeting room 0043 and started at 7:00 a.m. promptly.We had 12 members and 1 guest at the meeting. The Area 53 Governor, Ebony Christian, was in attendance. Ebony is starting her term as Area Governor and she was a pleasure to have at the meeting. Her warm personality and willingness to participate during Table Topics was evidence that she will be a pro-active Governor.
President Angela Ligon introduced Dramaine Freeman as the Toastmaster for the meeting. After Dramine introduced our guest, Ebony Christian, he talked about his ‘choice’ for word of the day which was ‘choice/option/alternative/preference/selection/election”. He is recently engaged and talked a little bit about choices as related to making decisions for his upcoming wedding.
The first speaker was Angela Ligon whose speech titled “Choose to cruise” talked about why cruising has the best value in vacationing and why it is truly a family vacation. The whole family can be entertained in different ways but still be together on the same vacation in a stress free environment.
The second speaker was Dave Burr whose speech was titled “Soccer Mom- a 48 Hour Film Festival Project”. Dave walked us through the fascinating process of making a film in 48 hours and helped illustrate to us, by showing us the actual film, what a great film/theater community the Triad has.
Steve Stephens led a lively session on table topics, that covered a variety of topics from the recent merger announcement of Lorrillard and RJR, to the best tasting barbecue to script writing v/s reality TV.
