President-elect Summer Murphy opened the meeting, leading us deliberately to our minute of silence in acknowledgement and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Summer cleared any doubt on the bias flag, encouraging us to use it to support our journey of becoming better speakers, and transitioned the meeting to Toastmaster Tim Murphy. Tim reviewed the agenda leading to the word of the day, Timshel, and shared insights on connections: “Everything comes back to your connections and the people you interacted with, from the moment you are born to the minute you die,” Tim said.
Toastmaster Renuka Korlipara introduced the first speaker, Toastmaster Kerstin Haase. Kerstin shared a speech titled ‘My Clan, Exploring My Scottish Heritage!’, indulging us with historical facts, stories, and more. Renuka, the speaker’s evaluator, commended the speaker for the unique speech that immersed the audience and shared feedback highlighting areas of excellence and improvement. Excellent work, Toastmasters!
Table Topic Master, Toastmaster Maria Leon, led an engaging questions and answers session, bringing random numbers for Toastmasters to choose from, which left the entire group pondering why these are arranged that way! Maria’s questions were deep and have helped participants develop their ability to organize their thoughts quickly and spontaneously. Great job, Maria!
Toastmaster Dave Burr served as General Evaluator, highlighted the key points, summarized the breakfast of champions portion of the meeting with thoughtful insights, and led the team in sharing feedback and reports. Dave singled out the great work that everyone had done and left them with amazing remarks. Summer provided the Timer report. Toastmaster Norris Bass shared the Grammarian report, spotting the use of filler words, the word of the day, and noting the outstanding quotes and thoughts. Excellent team!
Tim reviewed roles for next week, and the meeting was transitioned to our president to close the meeting.
