Hello Sunrise Toastmasters members,
Below is a quick rewind of our meeting held on Friday Sept 26, 2014.
The meeting was held at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in meeting room
NT102A and started at 7:00 a.m.
We had a total of 12 members present at our meeting.
President Angela Ligon opened the meeting by encouraging us to
celebrate our accomplishments at Toastmasters, and then turned over
the meeting to Toastmaster for the day Summer Murphy. Summer’s word of
the day was “Connect”. She wove the theme of the meeting around how
the Internet helps connect people across the world.
Ying Na gave our first speech of the day titled “Time ” from
competent communication manual (project #10). She talked about the
various dimensions of time and gave some helpful tips on becoming a
better time manager. Congratulations to Ying for completing her
manual.
Alvin Powell gave our second speech of the day. Speaking from
humorously speaking manual (project #4). Alvin shared with us humorous
situations he came across during his travels.
Joe (me) led us in table topics and set up questions using props from
around the house. The questions ranged from marketing Indian cookies
and salt to listing the health benefits of drinking out of a shot
glass.
Thanks to Tim Murphy and Brett Williams for serving as evaluator and
to Angela Ligon for being general evaluator. Thanks to Phil Stringer
for serving as Timer/Grammarian.
Business items:
1. Membership dues are coming up. Submit payment of $ 42.00 to Steve
Stephens, except if you are new member.
